Key Responsibilities:
Principal Ecologist
- Guide a broad range of projects, develop relationships with clients, and coordinate a team of Ecologists
- Show off your expertise in state and federal legislation, including EPBC Act, Vegetation Management Act, Nature Conservation Act, Planning Act, Offsets Act and associated guidelines
- Compile, edit and review specialised reports for clients, and legislation driven applications, permits and reporting
- Develop and submit proposals and tenders, guiding the Tender Team to ensure alignment with Biodiversity Australia’s standards
- Drive business development with new and existing clients
- Coordinate projects efficiently, ensuring they meet both internal and external client expectations in terms of timelines and financial considerations
- Proactively plan and manage resource needs, ensuring your team is equipped for growth
Senior Ecologist | multiple positions available
- Manage ecological projects from initial scope and client liaison, field flora and fauna surveys, through to commercial delivery.
- Show off your expertise in legislation, particularly QLD legislation, including Vegetation Management Act, Nature Conservation Act, EPBC Act, and State and Federal offset guidelines
- Leverage your networking skills to build and maintain strong relationships with clients across the resources, infrastructure, government, defence, residential, and aviation sectors
- Lead and mentor field Ecologists and Fauna team members and use your expert knowledge to support the Ecology division
- Preparation of Research and Technical Reports, Field Surveys, Impact Assessments, Analytics, Approvals and more
- Assist the Tender Team with the preparation of submissions and proposals, utilising your technical writing expertise
Ecologist | multiple positions available
- Conduct field ecology activities and be the knowledge expert in field ecology related activities throughout the division

What you'll bring
Principal Ecologist
- 10+ years of experience conducting ecology field assessments throughout QLD
- Demonstrated experience in managing ecological assessments including impact assessments, baseline assessments, and offset monitoring
- Experience in conducting ecological assessments as part of the federal and state development process
- Experienced in field-based ecological survey design methodologies and data collection
- Strong leadership, supervisory, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capability
- Experience coordinating staff including rostering and performance management
Senior Ecologist:
- Minimum 5 years postgraduate experience in a relevant field
- Experience maintaining professional relationships with clients from across the resources and infrastructure, government, defence, residential, or aviation sectors
- Working knowledge of consulting practice plus extensive project management skills
- Experience managing ecological projects from initial scope and client liaison, field flora and fauna surveys through to commercial delivery
- Sound knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal environmental regulations and their applications as well as relevant industry standards and practices
- Previous Team Leading or Management experience
Ecologist:
- Minimum 2-3 years postgraduate experience in a relevant field is desirable
- Knowledge of consulting practices.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing, submitting, and managing specialist biological and ecological assessment reports.
All Levels:
- Tertiary qualification in Ecology, Zoology, and/or Natural Resource Management or equivalent
- Ability and willingness to undertake field work when required
- Experience in bushfire consulting will be highly regarded
- Certification in protected plant surveys is desirable
- High attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Current drivers licence, White Card and First Aid Certificate
