Brisbane City Council plays a central role in shaping a vibrant, future-focused city. The Strategic Communication and Engagement branch leads how Council connects with the community through clear, creative and impactful communication.

Our Branch

The Social Media and Multimedia team creates engaging, real-time content that connects people with the city. The team captures and shares stories from across Brisbane, producing high-quality visual content that supports campaigns, events and day-to-day community engagement.

The Role

This is a hands-on multimedia role focused on capturing and producing social-first content. You will be out in the field across Brisbane, shooting photography and video, then editing and packaging content ready for Council’s social media channels.

You will work closely with a small, high-performing team to deliver engaging content that supports campaigns, promotes initiatives, and showcases the city.

In this role you will:

  • capture high-quality video and photography across events, locations and day-to-day Council activities
  • edit and produce engaging social media content using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Lightroom
  • create content suited to different platforms (e.g. reels, short-form video, photography assets)
  • support content planning through creative ideas and visual storytelling concepts
  • work with internal stakeholders to deliver content aligned to campaigns and communication goals
  • ensure content aligns with brand, accessibility and technical standards
  • monitor trends and contribute ideas to keep content fresh and engaging

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys being behind the camera, creating content, and seeing their work published across large, high-visibility platforms.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated experience capturing high-quality photography and video using professional equipment (DSLR or similar)
  • experience editing video and photo content using Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Premiere Pro and Lightroom)
  • ability to produce engaging, social media-ready content tailored to different platforms
  • strong attention to detail and ability to deliver polished, brand-aligned content
  • ability to work with stakeholders to deliver content that supports broader campaigns and communication objectives
  • good written communication skills to support captions and basic copy where required
  • awareness of current social media trends (desirable)
