We also offer syndicated programming on the CW, myTOK, Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network, and Telemundo Mississippi network. We take pride in serving our viewers, our community, and our advertisers for 71 years.

Our mission is to be engaged with the community and promote civic and economic development with a focus on improving the lives of our viewers. We use cutting-edge technology to provide accurate and timely news information on television and digital platforms.

Job Summary/Description:

WTOK-TV is seeking a multi-talented, highly motivated hybrid Weekend Anchor / Producer / Multimedia Journalist to join our news team. This unique role is perfect for a storyteller who thrives in every stage of news production—from digging up and reporting stories on weekdays to anchoring and producing newscasts on weekends. This position also carries a heavy digital focus, contributing directly to our digital platforms to drive traffic, user sessions, and viewer engagement.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Produce & Anchor: Own the weekend newscasts. You will be responsible for stacking, writing, and producing high-quality broadcast rundowns, and anchoring the live broadcasts.
  • Digital Ownership: Manage and update our digital news platforms (web, app, and social media) during the weekend shifts to keep our audience informed.
  • Content & Trend Monitoring: Actively monitor local social media pages, community groups, and digital platforms on the weekends to catch breaking news, source local story ideas, and gather user-generated content to enrich our coverage.
  • MMJ Reporting: Find, pitch, shoot, write, and edit compelling local stories. You will be expected to turn high-quality, accurate stories daily.
  • Digital Content Integration: Turn your broadcast stories into digital assets by writing web stories and publishing active social media updates.
  • Platform Consistency: You will create and publish engaging post assets (e.g., a 15–25s quick-take vertical video, a photo with bullet points, or a text graphic) across WTOK's social media platforms simultaneously.
  • Story Tiering: Adhere to newsroom story tiering workflows (Tier 1 vs. Tier 2) to maximize web users, pageviews, and video plays.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in shooting, writing, and non-linear editing (Edius, Premiere, etc.).
  • Strong on-camera presence, vocal delivery, and teleprompter reading skills.
  • Ability to write engaging, concise broadcast copy and AP-style web articles.
  • Experience with digital Content Management Systems (CMS) and professional social media publishing.
  • Excellent time-management skills and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as a self-starter and collaboratively within a tight-knit newsroom team.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
