Kuttabul Health Centre is located on HMAS KUTTABUL in Potts Point and provides outpatient medical, specialist and ancillary services including physiotherapy, and pharmacy, to the dependent ADF population. It’s a busy, vibrant, and unique clinical environment offering a variety of clinical challenges as well as leadership and continuous improvement opportunities

Our Health Centres and clinics support all defence members and their families across the area, providing a range of services including preventive medicine, musculoskeletal health, pre-deployment medicals, mental health and psychological support, as well as emergency medicine. We play a key role in ensuring the overall health and wellbeing of all our members on base.

About the Role

Fulltime Perm position – Monday to Friday

The Multidisciplinary Team Lead is a senior clinician based at Kuttabul HC is responsible for providing leadership, guidance and support to the Mental Health team, ensuring high-quality clinical service delivery within a collaborative and inclusive environment. The role combines clinical care responsibilities with mentoring, operational oversight and strategic input, ensuring services are delivered in line with professional standards, legislation, and Defence policies and procedures.

• Provide clinical and professional leadership, mentoring and guidance to multidisciplinary staff
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team culture
• Lead service excellence, innovation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Facilitate team meetings, case reviews, and professional development activities
• Maintain a clinical caseload, modelling best-practice standards of care
• Oversee staffing levels, supervision, and performance management of clinical staff
• Ensure compliance with professional, ethical, legal and Defence policy requirements, addressing and escalating risks as needed
• Contribute to governance, accreditation, incident management, and stakeholder engagement to support safe and effective service delivery

About you:

You will:

• be an adept relationship-builder with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to provide regular coaching and feedback to your team
• be a proven leader who is resilient and adaptable to changing healthcare environments
• show an innate ability to connect processes, systems and people with the big picture while making sure all the detail is in place
• leadership and management experience is essential – you may have been acting in a team leader or 2IC role and are ready to make the move permanently or you might be wanting to further develop your leadership skills with a global health leader

You will also:

• Be an Australian Citizen
• Have at least 5 years’ experience as a Ahpra registered professional
• Have full AHPRA registration
• Previous Defence experience will be highly regarded
• Proficient in computer operation systems in healthcare as ADF uses multiple platforms for electronic healthcare records
• Demonstrated commitment to customer service, patient-centred care, evidence-based practice, and continuous quality improvement
• Proven leadership experience including mentoring, team coordination, and/or project management in a healthcare setting
• Experience in clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, research, and working within professional and regulatory frameworks
• Proficiency in electronic health records and Commonwealth ICT systems, with the flexibility and adaptability to work effectively in a dynamic healthcare environment
