Multicultural Family Support Worker

Newcastle / Hunter Region Part time – 4 days per week
SCHADS Award Level 4

At Mosaic Multicultural Connections, we support children, young people and families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to build safe, strong and connected futures.

We’re looking for a Multicultural Family Support Worker who is passionate about early intervention, family support, and culturally responsive practice.

About the Role

You will work directly with families to strengthen parenting capacity, support child safety and wellbeing, and connect people to the services they need.

This includes:

  • Engaging families through home visits and outreach
  • Completing assessments and developing case plans
  • Coordinating supports and referrals
  • Delivering practical support and group programs
  • Responding to risks including child protection and family violence
  • Responsible for the timely maintenance of client records, ensuring
    all reporting obligations and case documentation meet organisational deadlines.
  • Presentation skills to run the parenting program in the group and
    individual settings.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who can confidently deliver across the core areas of the role:

  • Engagement: Build trust with families and work effectively across cultures
  • Assessment & Casework: Identify needs, develop plans, and manage a caseload
  • Family Support: Strengthen parenting skills and promote independence
  • Safety: Recognise and respond to risks, including child safety and DFV
  • Collaboration: Work with services and maintain clear, accurate records

Essential

  • Qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Psychology or similar
  • Experience working with children, young people, and families
  • Understanding of child development and family dynamics
  • Experience supporting complex needs (e.g. DFV, vulnerability)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Current driver’s licence

Desirable

  • Experience working with CALD communities or settlement services
  • Experience delivering group programs
  • Bilingual skills (highly regarded)
