Job Description

The System Modeling team plays a critical role in advancing wind turbine performance through state-of-the-art system modeling capabilities. The team is responsible for developing and adapting multibody simulation models & engineering tools to support both New Product Introduction (NPI) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for field issues encountered in operating turbines.

The team’s vision is to establish validated, cutting-edge capabilities in multibody system simulations and their seamless integration into the loads toolchain. This enables the delivery of cost-effective, high-performance products with bankable quality and rapid market readiness, providing significant value to our customers.

As a Multibody Simulation & Software Development Lead Engineer you will:

  • Lead the development and long-term ownership of production-ready multibody simulation and engineering software tools.
  • Provide technical leadership for software architecture, coding, compilation, deployment, and lifecycle support.
  • Define and enforce best practices for code quality, testing, validation, documentation, and GitHub-based development workflows.
  • Support New Product Introduction and Root Cause Analysis through simulation, software enhancements, and validated engineering results.
  • Translate field and engineering learnings into improved models, algorithms, and software capabilities.
  • Drive technical reviews and clearly communicate approaches, results, risks, and recommendations.
  • Mentor engineers in software development, testing, and collaborative workflows.
  • Champion lean initiatives across multibody simulation and software processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, software, computer science, or related technical field.
  • Experience with numerical simulation, preferably with multibody simulation tools such as Simpack, ADAMS, OpenFAST, or similar.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Experience developing and maintaining production-quality engineering software, including build/compile processes, testing, and validation.
  • Hands-on experience with Git/GitHub workflows, including version control, pull requests, code reviews, and repository maintenance.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience leading development and ownership of simulation tools and automation workflows.
  • Understanding of wind turbine system behavior, controls, operability, and validation.
  • Knowledge of software best practices such as modular design, coding standards, peer review, and release management.
  • Experience with unit, integration, regression, and verification/validation testing methods.
  • Ability to improve GitHub workflows, repository structure, and release/version management.
  • Proven success driving automation, efficiency, and code reliability improvements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience leading cross-functional or global teams; Agile/SCRUM experience is a plus.
  • Track record of continuous improvement in software, validation, and engineering workflows.
