POSITION SUMMARYThe MTSS Screener performs assessments of students to conduct universal screening and intervention placement tests. In this role, the facilitator also works with the MTSS coordinator, teachers, and other school professionals to develop plans to help students with learning challenges succeed. This position requires a strong, thorough knowledge of Bulletin 1508, a clear understanding of RTI/MTSS (Response to Intervention/Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) processes, and the ability to manage multiple evaluations while maintaining compliance and quality. Additionally, the facilitator may collaborate with staff on projects and participate in professional development workshops and programs. The person in this role will work in accordance with all applicable laws, guidelines, and UVA policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
MTSS Screening and Data Support
- Administers universal screeners and progress monitoring assessments
- Analyzes and interprets student data to support instructional and intervention decisions
- Communicates screening results to school teams, including teachers and families as appropriate
- Supports student placement within MTSS tiers based on data
MTSS Systems and Facilitation
- Facilitates or supports data-based problem-solving discussions with school teams
- Assists in the development and implementation of intervention plans and accommodations
- Supports schools in maintaining accurate MTSS documentation and trackers
- Identifies trends and provides recommendations to improve MTSS practices across schools
Compliance and Evaluation Support
- Monitors timelines for screenings and evaluations to ensure compliance with state and district requirements
- Supports multidisciplinary teams in evaluation planning and documentation as needed
- Reviews documentation for accuracy, completeness, and alignment to referral concerns
- Participates in Section 504 and problem-solving meetings as assigned
Collaboration and Communication
- Works closely with the MTSS Coordinator, school leaders, and instructional staff
- Provides support and guidance to teachers on interpreting data and implementing interventions
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to address barriers impacting student success
Additional Responsibilities
- Supports attendance-related initiatives in collaboration with school teams
- Participates in professional development and training
- Travels as needed to support testing and school-based activities
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Minimum of 3 years of related professional work experience as an educational leader in online learning environments and non-traditional or traditional public schools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ed Diagnostic Certification
- Doctorate Degree
- 5 + years of experience as an educational leader
- 4 + years in online learning environments
- 3 + years of charter or traditional school system
