Job Description

Do you enjoy solving engineering challenges while taking ownership of critical utility assets that keep a manufacturing site running safely and efficiently?

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Engineering team as a Multi-Skilled Utilities Technician. In this role, you'll take responsibility for key utility systems across site, ensuring safe, reliable and compliant operation through proactive maintenance, reliability improvement and asset ownership.

Working across a broad range of utilities infrastructure, you will play a key role in maximising equipment availability, improving asset performance and supporting operational excellence. This position offers genuine ownership and the opportunity to drive improvements that directly impact site performance.

How you will make an impact

As a key member of the engineering function, you will take ownership of critical utility assets and ensure the continued availability, reliability and compliance of systems essential to manufacturing operations. You will work closely with engineering colleagues, contractors and operational teams to deliver preventative maintenance, continuous improvement and long-term asset performance.

  • Own the performance, reliability and condition of designated utility assets and plant rooms.
  • Execute planned preventative maintenance, fault finding and reliability improvement activities across utilities systems.
  • Ensure statutory inspections, compliance actions and maintenance requirements remain fully up to date.
  • Coordinate and manage specialist contractors, ensuring work is completed safely and to required standards.
  • Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve asset performance.

This is a Monday-Friday days role working 37.5 hours per week,. The role includes participation in a 1-in-4 on-call rota and 1-in-4 weekend cover rotation.

What will make you successful

You will have a recognised engineering qualification, ideally electrical, together with experience in manufacturing, food, FMCG or industrial environments. Strong fault-finding capability, contractor management experience and a good understanding of preventative maintenance principles are essential.

Experience with utilities systems such as steam generation, refrigeration, boilers, compressed air, HVAC, CHP, water treatment, electrical distribution or building services infrastructure would be highly advantageous. Exposure to CMMS systems, RCA methodologies and continuous improvement activities will support your success in the role.

To thrive in this position, you will be someone who takes ownership, approaches problems systematically and works collaboratively with others to achieve safe and reliable outcomes.

What do we offer?

This role offers the opportunity to take genuine ownership of critical infrastructure assets within a world-class manufacturing environment. You will be empowered to influence maintenance strategy, improve reliability and deliver measurable operational improvements.

We're committed to professional development and promoting from within. Our collaborative culture encourages knowledge sharing, continuous learning and technical growth. You'll join a market-leading organisation where engineering excellence and operational reliability are highly valued.

Would you like to join us?

If you're passionate about engineering reliability, utilities systems and continuous improvement, we'd love to hear from you.

Please apply as soon as possible as applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.
