Kepak Merthyr has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities. We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service;

As a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will play a vital role in providing effective maintenance support to our Production team, ensuring the equipment, machinery, and tools used in our factory are always running smoothly, maintaining seamless production and enhancing efficiency.

We are looking for someone with suitable qualifications and experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably with meat or food production experience. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC control, refrigeration, and PTW systems is desirable.

Shift Pattern will be Days - Monday to Friday or 4 on/4 off - days and nights - depending on business needs.

Requirements

  • Join our multi-skilled apprenticeship program, offering a fantastic opportunity to develop a well-rounded skill set across diverse fields.
  • Possessing a relevant Electrical and/or Mechanical Qualification is crucial, as it forms the essential foundation for excelling in this role.
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting is a must, with a preference for candidates with a background in meat or food production, where unique challenges and operational demands arise.
  • A solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including PLC control, refrigeration, and Permit to Work (PTW) systems, is vital to meet the technical challenges of this position.
  • Demonstrating strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills is highly regarded and necessary for upholding operational efficiency.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are a must, fostering collaboration and ensuring effective interactions within the team and across departments.
  • The capability to showcase strong teamwork skills, along with a cheerful demeanor and a professional attitude, is essential in creating a harmonious work atmosphere.
  • Although not required, experience with domestic wiring, understanding PLC program structures, and familiarity with continuous improvement and Lean methodologies would enhance your application.
