Job Description

We’re searching for a Dual Role, (Multi-Certified) Medical Assistant at Texas Children's Pediatrics- Kyle Crossing, someone who’s ready to be part of a growing team with amazing opportunities. In this position you will be responsible for both clinical and non-clinical duties as a Front Office Specialist II and Certified Medical Assistant.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists with the collection of patient/family data.
  • Assists in the collection of patient/family data that may include biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per practice protocol.
  • Collects and documents vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and reason for visit with 100% accuracy.
  • Updates documentation to include if patient has received care at any other location since last visit.
  • Documents current medications, allergies, and other information per practice protocol with 100% accuracy.
  • Coordinates referrals, ensuring that the family has contact information for referral and any necessary documentation needed for the referral.
  • Tasks are measured by observation of the evaluator, feedback from providers and review of electronic health record.
  • Provides general patient care.
  • Administers medication and immunizations
  • Supports patients/families in self- management of their health through assisting with education
  • Coordinates referrals
  • Collects specimens and performs laboratory test
  • Maintains certification by fulfilling continuing education (CE) requirements as directed by certification agency.
  • Demonstrates Creating SMILES and AIDET philosophies to patients, families, and co-workers.
  • Provides operational support, performs reception duties, and screens phone calls.
  • Maintains integrity of medical record and monitors patient information and other practice data.
  • As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Skills & Requirements

  • Required H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Required Graduation from a medical assistant or emergency medical technician program or documentation from the licensing authority confirming that medical assistant/emergency medical technician education is not a requirement for certification.

    CMA-AAM - Cert-Cert Medical Assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants
    CMA-C - Clinical Medical Assistant Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants
    EMT - Emergency Medical Techn by the Texas Department of State Health Services
    EMT-A - Advanced EMT by the Texas Department of State Health Services
    EMT-B - Emergency Medical Techn-Basic by the Texas Department of State Health Services
    EMT-I - Emergency Medical Techn-Interm by the Texas Department of State Health Services
    EMT-P - Emergency Medical Techn-Parame by the Texas Department of State Health Services
    LIC PAR - Lic-Paramedic by the Texas Department of State Health Services
    NCMA - National Cert Med Assistant by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
    NRCMA - Nat Reg Cert Med Assistant by the National Association of Health Professionals (NAHP)
    RMA-AAH: American Allied Health by American Allied Health
    RMA-AAMP: American Association of Medical Personnel by the American Association of Medical Personnel
    RMA-AMT: American Medical Technologist by American Medical Technologist
    RMA-ARMA: American Registry of Medical Assistants by the American Registry of Medical Assistants
  • PALS - Cert-PALS by the American Heart Association
  • BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association
  • Required 1-year related experience
  • Preferred 2 years related experience
