Job Description
We are looking for a key player to transform our technological roadmaps into reality. If you are passionate about managing complex System of Systems (SoS) architectures and bringing disruptive, multi-domain technologies to life, this role offers the perfect platform to make a high-impact contribution to the future of vertical flight.
The position is functionally attached to the Head of Engineering Spain (EBST) and reports operationally to the Research and Innovation Leader in Spain (ETR).
Your working environment:
You will be based in Getafe, co-located with other divisions of the Airbus Group to foster cross-divisional synergies, and you will maintain close contact with AH teams in Albacete. You will interact regularly with all other organisations of Engineering and Airbus Helicopters, and coordinate a highly complex ecosystem of external stakeholders, including key government entities and public authorities.
Your challenges:
- Project Leadership & Public Funding: Drive the end-to-end technical, programmatic, and planning execution of high-value multi-domain demonstrators up to TRL 6-7. A crucial part of this role involves leading the strategy for the capture, management, and justification of public funding to support these technological developments.
- System of Systems (SoS) Integration: Lead the integration of advanced multi-domain architectures involving manned helicopters, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), ground command and control (C2) stations, tactical cloud connectivity, and complex sensor suites. Guarantee seamless data fusion and real-time tactical situational awareness.
- Stakeholder & Partner Management: Orchestrate a complex network of critical external stakeholders, managing interactions with government entities, public authorities, operational units, and technology partners. Ensure their deliverables align with technical specifications and flight-safety regulations.
- R&T to R&D Transition: Ensure the seamless handover of matured technologies from the R&T program into core R&D product programs for final product development, making sure the acquired knowledge is fully integrated within the Engineering Centres of Competence (CoCs).
- Funding Compliance & Demonstrations: Manage project schedules while generating necessary deliverables for external funding audits. Act as the primary coordinator with the public funding bodies supporting the demonstrators.
- IP & Knowledge Protection: Work under the guidance of the Head of IP to ensure that all knowledge and Intellectual Property generated during the design, development, and testing phases are fully protected.
Your profile:
- Experience: At least 10 years of professional experience in aeronautical program management, with a solid track record in leading complex systems, multi-domain demonstrators, or System of Systems (SoS) architectures.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced background in SoS engineering, multi-asset interoperability (air-ground), mission systems architecture, tactical connectivity, and sensor fusion. Knowledge in helicopter EOS/payloads integration and GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) is a plus.
- Project & Financial Management: Strong experience in leading high-value technological projects, including managing budgets, schedules, risk-sharing frameworks, and preparing documentation for public-private funding audits.
- Autonomy & Leadership: Ability to autonomously orchestrate multidisciplinary teams with a strong "ownership" mindset, bringing a strategic vision to complex technological challenges prior to final product development. Experience navigating complex ecosystems involving government entities, public authorities and operators.
- Mindset & Agility: A strong interest in emerging technologies and rapid software/hardware integration. Ready to navigate fast-paced R&T environments, shifting easily between high-level systems architecture and hands-on testing and demonstration.
- Dual Domains: Capacity to handle complex systems and dual-use technologies applicable to both civil and defense operational environments.
- Language & Culture: Fluent in Spanish (native) and English (negotiation level).
- Integrity: A strong commitment to acting with integrity and identifying compliance risks to protect the company's reputation.
- Travel: Availability to travel sporadically at a national and European level.
This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
