Job Description

EMPLOYMENT TERM: FY2026 - 2027 (200 Days)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passed State Aide Exam.
  • Has completed a training program approved by the State Board or holds a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
  • Holds or is willing to obtain a Permanent ECCAT (PK-03) Authorization.
  • Experience and/or training in Braille transcription and instruction preferred. Must possess or be willing to obtain the skills necessary to support students with visual impairments, including Braille literacy, under the direction of the Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), Case Manager, Administrator and in accordance with West Virginia Department of Education requirements

SALARY: Pay Grade E

CLASS TITLE DEFINITION (Based on §18A-4-8):

Perform duties in a support capacity including, but not limited to, facilitating instruction and providing direct or indirect supervision of pupils under the direction of a principal, teacher, or other designated professional educator; supervising students on a school bus; providing Braille support services to students with visual impairments, including preparing instructional materials in Braille, reinforcing Braille literacy skills, assisting with the use of adaptive technology, and supporting student access to the general education curriculum under the supervision of the Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
