The Multi-Asset Chief Operating Officer (COO) works to advance the process, systems and efficiency of portfolio managers, researchers, and traders by managing non-investment activity on behalf of the investment team, working with leadership to articulate the

overarching view for the entire asset class and partnering with functional teams on non-investment deliverables. Including providing support with audits, vendor processes, regulatory requirements, finance, and business analytics. As the Multi-Asset COO, your deep understanding of investment organizations will enable a positive impact on our portfolio management group as you work to improve and advance the capabilities of the Investment Solutions Group (ISG) organization as well as other investment organizations within State Street Investment Management.

Reporting to the Investments COO with a matrix line to the ISG COO, the Multi-Asset COO is responsible for assisting the ISG leadership with end-to-end strategy, design, and ongoing management of the infrastructure and operating model necessary to support the business.

As the Multi-Asset COO you will

  • Advise the Investment COO, ISG COO, and the CIO of ISG on matters pertaining to operating processes, technology, risk and infrastructure in order to utilize technology and personnel more efficiently and reduce operating risk.
  • Work directly with the ISG Investment Team to analyze and improve our investment process, working with other Investment COOs to standardize processes across investment groups and locations, where feasible.
  • Partner with the team to develop technology and operation platforms, including prioritization of projects, AI applications and own the business case for infrastructure investments.
  • Work with the CIO and leadership team on ISG strategy and execution of key initatives
  • Manage non-investment activity on behalf of the investment team, including those related to third parties, audits, errors, and controls, as appropriate.
  • Build relationships and partner with internal and external parties to shape and implement solutions for new clients, products, strategies and system architecture.
  • Act as point of contact on behalf of the ISG Investment team for cross-functional projects and initiatives. This may include acting as the investment subject matter expert or bridge for projects, collaborating with relevant portfolio management, trading, IT, operation, and control groups.
  • Provide support to the team in delivering strategic initiatives or major projects impacting the investment team.
  • Drive strategic commercial growth initiatives for ISG that require cross-silo coordination.
  • Develop or enhance procedures and controls in conjunction with other senior investment leaders
  • Review and monitor Investment Operations service quality. Challenge when necessary to ensure team’s needs are met.
  • Ensure actions assigned to the ISG team, including those relating to operational challenges and errors, audits, and other requirements, are addressed and resolved by providing coordination or SME support when needed.

A successful candidate has:

  • Detailed knowledge of investment management and operational processes and systems
  • Well-developed leadership skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with senior portfolio managers, operations, operational risk, trading, and other internal groups.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability speak with authority and tailor messages to a wide variety of audiences
  • Strong analytical skill and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, meet deadlines and effectively execute in a fast paced environment.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Salary Range:

$110,000 - $188,750 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
