The position:

We are looking for a curious, hands-on Software Engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical problems and working across multiple technology domains. Our team develops and supports software used to configure, test, validate, and troubleshoot complex networks of embedded systems. On any given day, you might be writing code, analyzing logs, debugging network communications, automating workflows, investigating a Linux issue, or helping diagnose an interaction between software and hardware.

Responsibilities

What We're looking for:

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications and automation tools used to support engineering, manufacturing, and field operations.
• Troubleshoot software, Linux, networking, and hardware-interaction issues with support from experienced team members.
• Work with embedded devices, networked equipment, and hardware peripherals.
• Collaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines to solve challenging technical problems.
• Create clear and effective technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and deployment procedures.
• Continuously learn new technologies and apply them to real-world problems.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Software Development

• Experience with one or more programming languages; C/C++ preferred
• Understanding of basic software design and object-oriented programming principles
• Git and modern source-control practices (GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews)

Linux and Systems

• Familiarity with application development on Linux platforms
• Understanding of Linux operations and basic operating-system fundamentals
• Exposure to Android application development is a plus
• Exposure to virtualization and container technologies such as KVM, libvirt, and Docker is a plus
• Exposure to computer vision technologies such as vision models, machine learning, and image processing is a plus

Networking

• Basic understanding of publish/subscribe architectures
• Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals and basic familiarity with DHCP, routing, switching, bridges, and VLANs
• Familiarity with network diagnostic tools such as tcpdump or Wireshark is a plus

Embedded Systems and Hardware Integration

• Exposure to embedded Linux development
• Basic understanding of basic hardware components, block diagrams, and schematics

Problem Solving and Communication

• Accurate, thorough, and clear technical documentation
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to work collaboratively

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

No single candidate is expected to have expertise in every area listed above. We are looking for engineers with a strong technical foundation, intellectual curiosity, and the desire to learn new technologies as projects require. Experience in several of the areas above is desired.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 0-3 years of proven experience in software engineering with demonstrated depth in Linux systems and software development.
• Relevant experience may include internships, coursework, research, open-source contributions, or personal projects.
• Experience with machine learning or AI-assisted tooling is a plus

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

May require travel up to 5% of the time to domestic and/or international locations.

The hourly range of $33.17 - $55.29 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum.
