Job Description

At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader — we’re changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the world. We’re committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts.

Our customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work — every day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet.

Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

We are seeking a highly skilled End-to-End (E2E) Quality Engineering (QE) Engineer with strong expertise in Playwright, Selenium, and advanced troubleshooting to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of complex distributed systems.

This role requires a technically strong engineer who can go beyond test execution — someone who can debug deeply, identify root causes, and collaborate effectively with development teams to prevent production issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust E2E automation frameworks using Playwright and Selenium.
  • Build scalable UI and API automation suites integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Perform deep technical troubleshooting across UI, backend services, APIs, and integrations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for production and pre-production defects.
  • Validate complex workflows across distributed systems and third-party integrations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams to ensure high release confidence.
  • Improve test coverage, stability, and execution speed of automation suites.
  • Contribute to automation best practices, code reviews, and framework improvements.
  • Support regression, functional, integration, and performance testing efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering / Test Automation
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Playwright (preferred)
    • Selenium WebDriver
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or similar programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Web technologies (DOM, HTTP, REST APIs)
    • API testing and integration validation
    • CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.)
  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills across frontend and backend systems.
  • Experience analyzing logs, network traces, and browser dev tools.
  • Strong understanding of test design, test data management, and environment setup.
  • Ability to work independently and drive quality improvements end-to-end.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with performance or load testing tools.
  • Experience in cloud-based environments (AWS/GCP/Azure).
  • Experience testing contact center tools (e.g., Genesys Cloud, IVR systems) is a plus.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted test automation or self-healing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).

What We’re Looking For

  • A technically strong QE who thinks like a developer.
  • Someone who can debug issues beyond UI symptoms and trace them to backend root causes.
  • A quality advocate who focuses on prevention, not just detection.
  • A collaborative team player with strong communication skills.
