What you’ll Do
An MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) Storeroom Clerk is responsible for managing inventory of supplies and parts needed for the site’s maintenance and operational needs. Key duties include tracking inventory, ordering supplies, stocking parts, and ensuring that maintenance teams have timely access to the correct tools and materials to prevent downtime. They also handle data entry, interact with vendors, and maintain records of MRO items.
- Inventory Management: Performing daily, weekly, and annual cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure accuracy between physical stock and the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Receiving and Stocking: Receiving and verifying incoming MRO parts and supplies, inspecting them for quality and damage, and organizing them in their proper storeroom locations.
- Issuing Parts: Issuing parts, tools, and supplies to maintenance technicians and other personnel upon request and ensure the transactions are recorded accurately in the system.
- Purchasing and Expediting: Monitoring inventory levels, placing purchase orders when stock falls below minimum levels, requesting quotes from vendors, and expediting orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of all inventory movements, purchase orders, work orders, and related documentation, often using a CMMS or similar system.
- Organization and Safety: Ensuring the storeroom is clean, organized, and adheres to safety standards (e.g., OSHA regulations, proper storage methods).
- Computer proficiency: Experience with computers is essential, including familiarity with software like MS Office (Word, Excel) and potentially inventory management systems.
- Communication skills: Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary for interacting with vendors and internal teams.
- Organizational skills: The ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks efficiently is crucial.
- Attention to detail: A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are important for accuracy and efficiency.
- Other duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned, which may include assisting with other administrative tasks or responding to emergencies.
- Reporting KPI’s The MRO Storeroom Clerk will be responsible for meticulously tracking, analyzing, and reporting on several critical KPIs to management on a routine basis. This includes Inventory Accuracy, Inventory Valuation, Stockout Rate/Fill Rate, Inventory Turnover, Cost Savings/Avoidance, etc.
What Experience and Education You Need
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- 1-3 years of experience in inventory control, a stockroom or in a similar logistics/manufacturing position is preferred.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with inventory management software or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is essential.
What Could Set You Apart
- Advanced education or certifications are a plus.
- Experience in similar role.
- Participation in initial storeroom setup, both physical and system.
- Participation in continuous improvement efforts with handling spare part inventory and associated processes.
- Familiar with storeroom best practices.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in spaces with 55 inches of headroom.
- Must be able to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures varying from 32 degrees Fahrenheit to minus 45 degrees Fahrenheit, as well as outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold and precipitation).
- Must tolerate heights up to 30 ft. and be able to access elevated products from inside safety cage.
- May stand to rebuild pallets with products. Requires tolerance of standing posture up to 5 hours, over an 8-10-12 hour shift. Occasionally required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- You must be able to lift boxes of varying weights from 10 lbs. up to 55 lbs. from ground level to 80 inches in height and up 70 lbs. to 50 inches in height rebuilding pallets without assistance. Must be able to lift and carry products a distance of 6 ft. without mechanical assistance.
- Wear clothing, boots, headgear, and gloves that protect against the cold.
- Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards/requirements.
The Company’s good-faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting for this position is $19.00 to $24.00 hourly. Rates may vary based on location.
