As an MRI Technologist, you will perform routine MRI exams and procedures on patients of all ages, healthbackgroundsand conditions. You will ensure they feel comfortable,safeand properly informed throughout the entire process, helpingfacilitatea welcoming and supportive experience. In this role, you have access to a unique avenue in which to enhance your skills using the latest technologies and leave a positivelasting impressionon patients every day.
A caregiver in this position works weekend days from 6:30AM – 7:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform MRI scansas prescribed byphysicians.
Interviewpatients to obtain needed information andprovideeducation to the patient about their scan.
Maintain constant patient contact duringscanandrespondaccordingly to patient reactions such as claustrophobic reactions.
Provide MRI information to patients, families,physiciansand otherappropriate people
Assistin developing new techniques and procedures relating to MRI.
Schedule procedures to ensure proper time allotment.
Conduct facility tours anddemonstrateequipment for visitors.
Remain abreast of current developments by attending related seminars and reviewing current literature.
Assistin other areas of Radiology, if needed, if there is no other work in the MRI section.
Comply withall Radiology Information System entry (including PACS) requirements foraccuratepatient, film, supply, tracking monitors.
Ensure the safety of everyone in the MRI area through limited access, screening, and proper bloodborne pathogen precautions.
Inject contrast material by intravenous puncture orestablishedintravenous, under the direction of the Radiologist.
Assistandsupportthe Radiologic student program, provide supervision and feedback to students as they perform procedures, review images with students onrequestandprovidequarterly evaluations of students to clinical instructions for formal reviews.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or an accredited institution per the primary pathway of the ARRT
Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of MRI Technologists (ARMRIT) ORRegistered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists [R.T.(R) (ARRT), R.T.(S)(ARRT) or R.T.(T)(ARRT)] in good standing OR Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists [R.T.(N) (ARRT)] OR Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
Magnetic Resonance Imaging [R.T.(MR)(ARRT)] Certification within24 monthsof hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Knowledge of Magnetic Resonance Imaging techniques and parameters
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Three years of experience as a radiologic technologist
One year experience in computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging
Physical Requirements:
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
Requires frequent pushing and pulling of equipment up to 75 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
