Job Description

Under the immediate supervision of the Medical Imaging Supervisor the MRI Technologist, is responsible for conducting routine MRI procedures and ensuring all Physician and customer needs are met through clinical and administrative tasks.

Perform MRI Exams

  • Perform MRI procedures according to physician orders and departmental protocols
  • Able to assess plan and provide individualized care for patients taking into account the mental status development and physical needs of each patient based on age
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Assist with training new staff and students as assigned
  • Follow all radiation safety and infection control guidelines
  • Provide patient and family education related to MRI exams
  • Communicate effectively with Radiologists and referring providers regarding patient findings and exam needs
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement and continuing education activities
  • Operate MRI equipment and monitor image quality, making technical adjustments as needed
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort, including screening for contraindications to MRI.

PACS

  • Ensures all computed and digital images are properly archived on Synapse
  • Scan Documents in a timely manner
  • Trouble shoot as needed
  • Push images to other Hospitals
  • Burn Cd's/and enter Tech notes into each exam completed

HIS/RIS

  • Ensures timely reporting of exams
  • Charges exams correctly
  • Prints Schedules and checks Patient orders
  • Confirms patient identity with two identifiers.

  • Attends and participates in a minimum of 50% department staff meetings and signs off on review of 100% department staff meeting minutes
  • Completes all required annual education on or before the due date in Healthstream
  • Performs similar or related duties as required or directed
  • Serves on committees and attends meetings as requested
  • Utilizes supplies and equipment properly without waste

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the primary functions of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, using some combination of skills and abilities and possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without a reasonable accommodation, to safely perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Minimal physical effort required with occasional light lifting to a maximum of 50 pounds; stooping; and pick, pinch, type, or otherwise work primarily with fingers
  • Ability to effectively manage considerable mental stress
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and convey information in a clear, concise and accurate manner
  • Familiarity with computer and other business machines


Qualifications
Graduate from an A.M.A approved school of Radiologic Technology or MRI
ARRT certification in Radiography (R) required
ARRT (MR) preferred or eligibility to obtain within 12 months of hire
Current NH state licensure (or eligibility)
Current BLS certification

1 year of MRI Experience required. Clinical Rotations will be considered.

Varied hours dependent on need. May included rotation to evenings, nights and weekends. Call and holiday rotation is required.
