Job Description

Accountable to Assistant Manager of Radiology, and Manager. Responsible for assisting the MRI radiologic technologist during MRI exams.

  • Under the supervision of the MRI technologists, the imaging aide will serve as a valued member of the Radiology Team, assisting the MRI technologists.
  • The MRI imaging aide will assist in confirming appointments and begin the first level of the safety screening process.
  • The staff member will help schedule patients and will assist in maximizing table time by allowing for efficient and safe room turn-around for the next patient, including getting patients on/off the MRI table and setting up coils.
  • The MRI imaging aide will help with transport when needed and visit patient floors for such tasks as delivering MRI safe IV pumps.
  • The MRI imaging aide will help update families on the status of their child during exams especially with scans involving anesthesia.
  • Sanitizes equipment and maintains in-room supplies.
  • Skill set needed would be a talented multitasker, who can allow for a quick and efficient fast-paced MRI department.
  • Skilled communicator to allow for people skills needed to be interacting with patients and families but also other health care professionals.
  • Good computer skills to be able to utilize the current Radiology Information System.
  • May be called upon to cover day, evenings, weekends. Rotates shifts as warranted.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Education Required: High School Diploma, GED, or a higher level of education that would require the completion of high school, is required.

Education and/or Experience Preferred:

  • Experience Preferred: Minimum six months previous pediatric experience preferred.

License and/or Certification Required:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Competency in caring for patients treated at Connecticut Children’s regardless of age, disability, gender and ethnicity. Knowledge and skills to efficiently operate CR, RIS, PACS, and CD burner.
