Business Unit:

The Model Portfolio Service (MPS) team forms part of the firm’s IFA Portfolio Management function and is responsible for delivering investment services to financial advice firms. This role will work closely with the Bespoke MPS team, supporting the delivery of tailored portfolio solutions, working closely in partnership with the Business Development team and the wider Portfolio Management function to provide a high-quality service to advisers and clients.

Brief Role Objective:

The role is responsible for supporting the model portfolio team with the efficient delivery and ongoing administration of tasks including but not limited to maintaining model portfolios across external custodian platforms. It serves as a primary liaison for external providers and internal stakeholders, being involved with tasks such as accurate platform setup, timely asset implementation, effective query management, and reliable reporting, while contributing to other processes and committee support materials. As with many roles, the responsibilities will likely evolve over time as business dictates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to client, adviser, and internal non-investment-related queries regarding model portfolios, particularly those relating to the Bespoke MPS team.
  • Assist the Bespoke MPS team with tasks such as the preparation of investment committee packs, helping deliver them to advisers in a timely manner.
  • Manage platform administration such as access for IFAs, ensuring permissions are set up accurately and acting as the primary contact for platform custodians.
  • Process changes to IFA fee arrangements on platform, ensuring updates are completed correctly and communicated where required.
  • Provide the sales team with updates such as on the progress and timeliness of platform asset uploads.
  • Liaise effectively with external third parties such as custodians and providers to obtain information required by clients and their advisers.
  • Monitor empty models on platform and ensure they are closed appropriately.
  • Work closely with the Business Development team to provide data such as platform and fund management information, including extracting and compiling management information such as adviser assets under management and total asset investments, to support understanding of adviser asset allocation trends and proposition profitability.
  • Assist with tasks such as running portfolios through external risk profiling tools for the internal monthly risk committee meeting.
  • Oversee the team planner to ensure regular tasks are picked up by the team in a timely manner.

  • Maintain proficiency in the use of internal and external systems and information feeds such as external platforms or FE analytics.
  • Ability to work with data and spreadsheets; good Excel proficiency required.

Other Skills and Attributes:

  • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
