Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) is seeking a MP&P Engineer (Mechanical/Structures/Assembly) (Associate or Mid-level) to join our team in the greater St. Louis area in Berkeley, Missouri.

This person will be working on the assembly team supporting multiple defense programs through the Materials and Process Technology Organization. The ideal candidate will have mechanical or assembly engineering background and will work cross-functionally with design and production teams to support daily operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of Boeing products

  • Provide daily in-house factory and supplier support for challenging technical problems to resolve production issues, and improve cost, schedule, and performance

  • Develop and maintain engineering specifications/documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes

  • Apply knowledge of fastener, fittings, and bearings to develop designs and standard part processes that are repeatable, cost effective, environmentally friendly, and meet contractual and regulatory requirements for complex and large aerospace structures

  • Evaluate, Optimize, and implement new technologies for potential application to business needs.

  • Manage development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements

  • Conduct routine analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes

  • Identify and implement corrective and preventive actions

  • Manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements

  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements

  • Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.

  • Coordinate with all levels of customer organization ranging from shop floor mechanics thru superintendents, union stewards, quality managers and Lean Office, Health & Safety, etc

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A Interim Pre-Start and/or Final Post Start is Required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for mid level

  • Experience with fastener installation

  • Experience with designated safety critical parts

  • Experience with the development and maintenance of engineering standards or drawings

  • Experience with the design or development of fasteners and/or other standard parts

  • Familiarity with military and commercial aerospace standards, fasteners, and material properties

Typical Education and Experience:

Level 2: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Level 3: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. Level 2: $91,800 - $124,200

Level 3: $112,200 - $151,800
