As a Duty Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the Mountain Operations department including lift operations, bike park operations, terrain park, snow removal, transport, dispatch, grooming, wither attractions and patrol. The Duty Manager is responsible for leading multiple teams to success and ensuring a safe and exceptional experience for all mountain guests.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Oversee the daily operations of Mountain Operations department which includes; Lift Operations, Terrain Parks, Snow Removal, Transport, Dispatch, Grooming, Winter and Summer attractions, Bike Park as well as assist with Summer and Winter First Aid and Patrol
• Ensure an exceptional and safe guest experience for all mountain guests and staff
• Foster a positive working environment for all staff including regular check ins to ensure employee satisfaction
• Complete daily operational tasks in a timely manner
• Uphold and enforce company policies and procedures and implement new processes
• Work with HR and Administrative support in hiring, training, coaching & scheduling staff
• Assist and provide training for all Mountain Operations staff including department & job orientations, job specific training, Guest Service and Health & Safety Training
• Assist Supervisory teams with conducting daily team meetings and Tool Box talks
• Conduct incident and accident investigations for incidents involving company facilities and/or equipment, staff and guests
• Perform site inspections of all property, facilities, equipment and work areas and practices
• Work as a liaison between all departments mountain wide to ensure smooth execution of all company related operations
• Incident command for emergency response situations, including acting as a liaison with external and emergency agencies, such as District Fire, BCAS, and NSR
• Perform all other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides direct supervision to all staff in Mountain Operations including the following areas: Lift Operations, Terrain Parks, Transport, Dispatch, Grooming, Winter and Summer attractions, Trail Crew and Bike Park
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
• 2 years experience with supervision of a large team
• Hands-on leader with a proven track record of superior guest satisfaction
• Experience in four season resort supervision or management an asset
• Risk Management and Incident Investigation experience an asset
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
• Proficient skier or snowboarder
• Snowmobile experience an asset
• Competent administrative abilities and experience
• High energy and strong work ethic
• Ability to work shift work including early mornings, evenings and occasional nights based on special events, functions and celebrations
WORKING CONDITIONS
Duty Managers perform most of their duties outdoors and may work in all kinds of weather conditions. This role is a full-time, year-round position, working an average of 40 hours a week, with rotating shifts. Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$25.96 to $27.40/hour
