Mountain Biking Coach

Division: Telos Academy

Time commitment: Seasonal, weekend availability.

Reports to: Athletics Coordinator

Pay: Stipend

A Telos Academy mountain biking coach helps instruct and train students with seasonal mountain biking. A coach works directly with the academic team to instruct, evaluate, encourage, monitor, and record the progress of individual students. They devise and adapt resources to suit the specific learning styles and needs of each student.

• Instructs, teaches, and guides students during activities.
• Holds highest priority for safety
• Monitors student progress by training, giving appropriate feedback, and maintaining records of each student’ progress and development
• Coordinates and reports students’ progress to teachers and academic advisers
• Reports progress on individual student assistance as necessary
• Creates an athletic working environment for students
• Selects and uses a range of different learning resources and equipment guided by the teacher
• Completes employment certifications and classes such as CPR, 1st Aid, Processing Training, TB Tests, Restraint Training, etc.

Requirements

• A basic understanding of the Telos student population
• A love of physical activity and training
• A desire to train for triathlons with the students
• Knowledge of physical education and athletic training
• Ability to direct the class
• Ability to hold and maintain discipline within the academic setting
• Flexibility & Creativity
• A love of working with and teaching adolescents
• A positive attitude
• A desire to be a team player
• Ability to demonstrate proper technique.
• Prior biking experience
