We are currently seeking an experienced Motorman to join the luxury cruise vessel Orient Express Corinthian

  • Contract: 6 months ±1 month
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Fitter on board cruise ships
  • All valid STCW certificates
  • Good command of English
  • Valid references and/or recommendations from previous employers
  • valid C1D visa

and Main Purpose of Job:

The Motorman is a watchkeeping engineering rating responsible for assisting the EOOW in the safe monitoring, routine maintenance, and cleaning of engine room machinery. Each Motorman is paired with a specific watch pattern and acts as the dedicated assistant to the corresponding EOOW, carrying out navigational watch duties, scheduled day-work on assigned equipment, and any additional general technical duties as reasonably required by the Staff Engineer or EOOW.

Key Responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Watchkeeping & Machinery Monitoring: Perform safe engine room watchkeeping duties under the direct supervision of the assigned EOOW. Conduct thorough global machinery rounds as well as highly detailed checks specifically focused on the equipment assigned to their watch.
Routine Maintenance & Day-Work: Execute scheduled day-work, routine servicing and various maintenance jobs as instructed by the paired EOOW or the Staff Engineer during designated working hours outside of pure watchkeeping duties.
Targeted Housekeeping: Take direct ownership of the cleanliness, painting, and cosmetic maintenance of the specific machinery and deck plates assigned to their watch, ensuring the highest standards of housekeeping and a hazard-free environment.
Operational Assistance: Actively assist the engineering officers during critical operational procedures, including bunkering, sludge/wastewater transfers, and loadings when required.  Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Comply strictly with all safety procedures, including Permit to Work (PTW) protocols, isolation procedures, and the correct use of PPE. Ensure personal compliance with work and rest hour regulations while fulfilling all required watch and service hours.

Participate in shipboard emergency duties and drills in accordance with the vessel’s muster list and emergency procedures
Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and for that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions
Cooperate with management on health and safety matters
Use correctly all work items provided by the Company, including personal protective equipment, in accordance with training and instructions
Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for health, safety, or welfare ·
Abide by environmental protection rules and regulations and actively participate in the reduction, reuse, and recycling schemes in place All employees shall participate actively in all HSEQ activities and promote safe practices as part of an integrated management approach.
