Job Description

Motor Transport Dispatcher (SWFPAC 2026-25320):

Bowhead seeks a Motor Transport Dispatcher to a serve as the coordinator for the tactical and non-tactical vehicle fleets supporting SWFPAC and MCSFBn. This role is critical for moving personnel and mission-essential equipment (including A&E) across the base and to high-security areas.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include:

  • Responsible for daily vehicle tasking and scheduling to support security patrols, convoy operations, and logistics transport for strategic assets.
  • Oversee the Automated Dispatching System (or manual logs) to track vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance intervals
  • Serve as the central point of contact for vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or emergency transport requests within the command area
  • Enforce Department of Transportation (DOT) and Navy safety standards for vehicle operations, especially for hazardous material (HAZMAT) transport.
  • Responsible for GSA vehicle assets assigned to MCSFBN (65 Total vehicles, composed of Vans, Pickup trucks, SUVs and Buses) to ensure availability in meeting mission requirements
  • Track the GSA vehicle fleet availability, maintain an electronic log of assignments/check-outs/check-ins, and review Pre-Operation Check documents at check-out for maintenance and repair actions.
  • Verify that MCSFBN personnel checking out the vehicles hold valid driver’s licenses.
  • Observe operators to ensure accurate turn in and issue documentation of vehicle condition is accurately reported.
  • Inspect vehicles upon check-in for damage (or when vehicle damage is reported); contact the SWFPAC Security Transportation Manager (Government TA) to authorize turn-in the vehicle to BOSC Maintenance Shop for estimates and/or further repairs.
  • Coordinate repairs with the Facility designated by the SWFPAC Security Transportation Manager, arrange for vehicle drop-off and pick-up by (Contractor) personnel, and maintain an electronic log of repairs performed on vehicles.
  • Maintain rolling two-month maintenance and repair schedule/report showing maintenance and repair actions.
  • Track the GSA vehicle fleet mileage at check out, check in, and maintain an electronic log.
  • Submit a Monthly Motor Transport Mileage Report
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent (GED) Minimum 1 year of experience in vehicle management, scheduling for utilization, preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure utilization requirements preferably within a military environment (Navy NEC 3531 or USMC MOS 3531 equivalent)
  • 1–2 years in a lead or "Chief Dispatcher" role, managing complex schedules and multi-vehicle convoys
  • Knowledgeable of the Defense Transportation System (DTS) and the Federal Management Regulation (FMR) regarding government vehicle use.
  • Completion of the Motor Vehicle Dispatcher Course or equivalent military PME
  • Obtain a Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s Card (OF-346) for a variety of vehicle classes (M-Series trucks, SUVs, passenger vans).
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with HAZMAT or Passenger endorsements is often highly preferred or required for Lead roles.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and write the English language.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, Government Representative, and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged period amounts of time.
  • Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
  • High noise levels are common as is the potential exposure to heat/cold, noise, dusts, mist, and/or fumes.

Security Requirements: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location
