Job Description

We’re looking for a motivated and customer-focused Insurance Broker to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for providing accurate quotations, supporting the Branch and acting as a referral point for Trainees.

You’ll work closely with clients across a range of channels, including in person, over the phone and via email, helping to maximise sales and retention through excellent communication, negotiation and customer service.

We’re looking for someone with strong judgement, excellent attention to detail and an analytical approach, who is flexible, self-motivated and driven to deliver the best possible experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent customer service while efficiently meeting customer requirements across New Business, Existing Business and Renewals.
  • Provide accurate quotations and recommend suitable products based on customers’ needs and circumstances.
  • Ensure all product information is clear, fair and not misleading, enabling customers to make informed decisions.
  • Calculate New Business and Renewal premiums in line with insurer risk appetite and guidelines.
  • Liaise with insurers on non-delegated authority business where required.
  • Respond to telephone calls, emails and customer queries promptly and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of all customer interactions.
  • Identify complaints and refer them to the appropriate complaint handler.
  • Ensure all customer queries are dealt with within agreed SLAs.
  • Act as a referral point and provide support to Trainees within the Branch.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant requirements, including Treating Customers Fairly, Contract Certainty and supporting Vulnerable Customers.
  • Attend client meetings and visits where required.
  • Contribute to team and business objectives by identifying opportunities, closing gaps and up-selling appropriate products.
  • Develop and maintain strong product and technical knowledge, including insurance principles, policy coverage, exclusions and conditions.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience working within an insurance broking or underwriting environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Good numerical and analytical ability.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive, proactive and can-do attitude.
  • The ability to remain calm and effective when working under pressure.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and internet-based systems.
  • Strong personal presentation and timekeeping.
  • A strong commitment to honesty, integrity and delivering excellent customer service.

This is a varied role, and you may occasionally be required to support additional duties or work from different offices as business needs require.
