We believe that everyone deserves to feel safe and secure, whether they're at home or away, and we're committed to providing our customers with the peace of mind they need to live their lives without worry. Arlo’s deep expertise in AI- and CV-powered analytics, cloud services, user experience, product design, and innovative wireless and RF connectivity enables the delivery of a seamless, smart security experience for Arlo users that is easy to set up and interact with every day.
The Motion Sensing Hardware Team at Arlo is entrusted with the responsibility of integrating various motion sensing technologies, such as Passive Infrared and millimeter-wave Radar into our products. This team comprises a collaborative environment with other teams such as our Firmware team and third-party suppliers that fosters creativity, intelligence, and strong execution. Engineering excellence and meticulous attention to detail are highly valued and encouraged. Problem solving and creativity are key to introducing innovative technologies and exceptional user experiences.
As a member of the Motion Sensing Hardware Team, you will play a pivotal role in characterizing our products’ motion sensing performance, developing and maintaining test tools, making recommendations to solve problems or improve performance. You will also evaluate different technologies and solutions for future products.
You are a self-starter and able to overcome roadblocks independently, reaching out to others as needed. You are curious and like to solve problems with creative solutions.
Responsibilities
·Characterize product performance in different environments, report results, suggest design changes and improvements. Such improvements may span detection range, detection field of view, angular and range accuracy, true and false positive performance.
·Diagnose engineering issues with true scientific method driving to definitive root cause.
·Participate in defining and updating sensing system metrics that deliver performance and improvement to customer perception.
·Work cross-functionally with other teams (Firmware, ODM partners, technology partners) to resolve issues and improve performance.
·Develop measurement methods, tools and equipment that are repeatable, reproducible, and automated as appropriate to enable thorough validation coverage of sensors on tight development schedules.
·Support engineering factory build activities with performance validation measurements, yield optimization, and failure analysis coordination.
·Prepare and deliver presentations and test reports to clearly communicate technical status, risks and mitigation strategies for ongoing sensing system programs.
·Collaborate with our Compliance Team to ensure our technology meets compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
· Experience integrating a commercial mmWave radar solution into a shipping product.
· Working knowledge of radar fundamentals (range/velocity/angle resolution, point-cloud and tracking outputs), plus hands-on experience tuning detection and tracking parameters against real test data to hit product spec targets (range, detection accuracy, false-positive/negative rates, etc.).
· Comfortable across HW and FW - able to debug timing/GPIO-level issues (e.g. for TTFF analysis).
· Experience working directly with third party technology vendors to optimize device configuration and algorithms for our specific use cases.
· Experience with data analysis and visualization in Python.
·Proficient with test data reporting in a clear and succinct manner, such as generating plots, graphs, result tables,…
Nice-to-haves
· Hands-on experience with third party commercial SDKs - device configuration, parameter tuning, and extracting detection/point-cloud data.
· Experience with Passive Infrared Sensors
