Mortgage Servicing Escrow Oversight SpecialistACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT

The incumbent is the liaison between Mortgage Loan Servicing and the in-force escrow vendors and will be responsible for daily remittance and reconciliation of funds to Mortgage Servicing escrow vendors on all loans serviced by VyStar Credit Union. The incumbent will report any anomalies to the Mortgage Loan Servicing Supervisor, Mortgage Servicing Manager and/or Vice President Mortgage Servicing to ensure servicing rights are protected. The incumbent will also be responsible for working with accounting to reconcile general ledger accounts for the department and ensure all vouchers for vendor remittance are completed accurately and timely.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Protect the interest of VyStar and its investors by ensuring payments are remitted timely and VyStar records are reconciled/updated daily/monthly.
  • Run daily ALTINS to ensure proper processing of insurance payments.
  • Communicate on a daily and weekly basis with third party vendors. Effectively communicating any risks or challenges and working with the vendors to resolve the opportunities.
  • Respond to monthly exception reports.
  • Timely review and research of daily exception/escalation reports, research and respond to Insurance and Tax issues
  • Knowledge of insurance carries, disbursement and borrow communications
  • Effectuate tasks according to our policies and procedures and adherence to regulatory/investor and SLA compliance.
  • Monitor and reconcile at least monthly if not more often, based on the specific situation, the general ledger reconciliation functions of the department and work with the respective employee or Accounting to clear any exceptions.
  • Apply knowledge of mortgage servicing (flood, hazard, wind/hurricane, etc.), flood certificates, force place insurance, loss draft requirements and taxes.
  • Responsible for providing and/or coordinating periodic up-training to ensure the mortgage servicing staff stays abreast of any changes with Insurance/Tax third party vendors.
  • Identify and make recommendations to Mortgage Servicing Supervisor, Mortgage Loan Servicing Manager and Vice President regarding process improvements, quality service and increased efficiencies.
  • Provide monthly updates to Supervisor/Manager regarding any outstanding items that are still pending
  • Act as a secondary resource for other department functions such as satisfaction, loss draft , PMI, etc.
  • Participate in assisting the leadership team with routine annual audits for a variety of examiners.
  • General understanding of GL principles and third party accounts payable
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of escrow and vendor related procedures
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

A high school education is the minimum requirement.

EXPERIENCE

  • Either Associates degree or 4-6 years of related mortgage servicing experience is required
  • 4-6 years in a Mortgage Servicing experience, preferrable insurance or tax related.
  • Knowledge of the ICE mortgage servicing platform (MSP) is preferred, but not required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of mortgage escrow accounts, homeowners’ insurance, taxes, force placed insurance
  • Ability to diagnose root cause and evaluate proposed solutions
  • Strong communication skill, both written and oral, be detailed oriented, have good organizations and active listening skills. The ability to work in a fast -paced environment and proven ability to work with others.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and counsel team
  • Ability to influence and persuade cross functional teams
  • Advanced Excel skills/VLOOK ups
  • Experience with running ALTINS
