The Mortgage Finance Transactions & Accounting Manager ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial transactions across the mortgage loan platform and core bank systems. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to resolve complex operational issues while delivering precise, high‑quality financial reporting in a fast‑paced environment. The position carries accountability for proactively identifying and managing risk, escalating issues as appropriate, and adhering to established policies and procedures. The manager consistently operates within the Bank’s risk appetite while doing the right thing for customers and colleagues through disciplined risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • You will oversee daily mortgage finance transactions, including fundings, payments, payoffs, cash movements, reconciliations, and multi‑system reporting.
  • You will lead and develop a team of Specialists through clear expectations, coaching, feedback, and strong collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • You will ensure compliance with bank policies while maintaining strong controls over transaction accuracy, general ledger impacts, and downstream reporting.
  • You will research and resolve complex reconciliation issues, guiding partners on corrective entries and escalating issues as needed.
  • You will prepare, review, and distribute daily and periodic reporting on balances, accrued interest, fees, participations, and reserve accounts.
  • You will serve as the subject matter expert for mortgage finance settlement and system flows while driving process improvements, system enhancements, and support for new initiatives.

Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or related field of study and ­­7-10 years of directly related experience in commercial banking or residential mortgage, with an emphasis on mortgage finance preferred.

  • Experience with bank reconciliation software (such as Blackline, Frontier), Warehouse Lending Software (e.g., Promerit, WLS), and additional core banking systems is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Exceptional analytical, judgment, and independent decision-making capabilities
  • Highly self-motivated, with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Comprehensive knowledge of debits, credits, and account balancing principles
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines while maintaining high accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with demonstrated aptitude for learning new banking systems and platforms
