Job Description

The Private Investments Team / Morgan Private Ventures (“MPV”) team sits within Investment Solutions and introduces opportunities in private equity, direct real estate, venture capital, growth equity and other private investments to the Private Bank and Wealth Management’s most sophisticated clients. This highly visible role will be based in Hong Kong, covering and growing the MPV business across Asia Pacific. The role will also provide the opportunity to gain markets exposure and knowledge while delivering on business strategies and priorities and also supporting the day to day operations of the business.

As an experienced Vice President or Executive Director to aid in building out our private capital markets offering within Wealth Management. The successful candidate will play a central role in all aspects of executing private capital raises or minority investments with our clients, while developing a strategic dialogue across their balance sheet. As a seasoned finance professional with extensive client coverage and distribution experience, you will demonstrate good business judgement and a proven track record in developing clients and marketing total business solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, and lead the execution of private investment opportunities with clients
  • Manage day-to-day deal execution and operations, interacting with senior deal team members across Wealth Management and the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB), client management teams, transaction counterparties and other advisors
  • Partner with select financial sponsors/private equity funds on private investment opportunities
  • Develop and maintain active dialogue with client advisors/clients on the private markets and individual private investment opportunities
  • Create and lead internal/ client advisor sales distribution strategies, materials, pitches for individual private investment opportunities
  • Review financial models and valuation analyses, including for evaluating investors’ proposals and designing & analyzing different financing structures in partnership with the CIB
  • Work independently, producing high quality deliverables such as marketing materials, Board materials and other presentation materials for use during private capital raises or strategic client dialogue
  • Leverage and coordinate the bank's resources on behalf of the client
  • Leading and participating in execution meetings in conjunction with industry coverage partners

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • At least 10+ years of experience in the wealth management, asset management, or investment banking industry
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects with different deal teams across industries and lines of business
  • Thorough knowledge of alternatives, corporate finance, and accounting, as well as an understanding of legal and tax aspects related to private placement transactions
  • Excellent sales management (CRM) and organizational skills
  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and analytical skills in English and Chinese (Mandarin and / or Cantonese)
  • Demonstrated ability to review and articulate investments with clients
  • Willingness to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent technology skills with superior Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience in Python or desire to learn
