Position: Early Childhood Educator

Contract: Permanent position

Hours: Monday – Friday, 38 hours per week

About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and dedicated educator to join our Montessori community in a supportive classroom capacity. In this role, you will assist in guiding children through their early developmental journey using authentic Montessori principles. You will help create and maintain a peaceful, well‑prepared environment, support the implementation of the classroom program, and contribute to the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing of each child. This position plays a vital role in fostering independence, curiosity, respect, and joy in learning.You will work closely with the Class Director to observe and record children’s progress, support classroom routines, ensure the environment is safe and orderly, and uphold the Montessori ethos throughout daily practice. This is a hands‑on, deeply meaningful role suited to someone who is nurturing, reflective, reliable, and committed to supporting children’s development in a calm and respectful way.

To be successful, you will have:

• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing within a Montessori environment.
• The ability to guide, mentor, and nurture children in a peaceful and respectful manner.
• An understanding of age‑appropriate expectations for toddlers/young children and the capacity to recognise and respond to individual developmental needs and interests.
• Strong observational skills, including the ability to record daily notes, monitor children’s progress, and support lesson planning.
• A commitment to maintaining a safe, calm, hygienic, and well‑organised environment that supports concentration and independence.
• The ability to uphold the Montessori philosophy, Code of Ethics, and school ethos in all interactions.
• Willingness to support children with personal care needs, including toileting and nappy changes.
• Strong awareness of duty of care, with the ability to supervise children closely and ensure their safety at all times.
• The ability to maintain confidentiality and a sound understanding of privacy requirements.
• A collaborative approach, with the ability to work closely with the Class Director, colleagues, and families as co‑educators.
• Openness to reflective practice, ongoing training, Montessori workshops, and continuous professional growth.
• The ability to assist with classroom set‑up, environmental maintenance, and preparation of materials.
• Willingness to support school events, celebrations, and parent engagement activities.
• Strong communication, professionalism, and a commitment to modelling grace, courtesy, and peace education.
• Willingness to step into additional responsibilities when the Director is absent, as appropriate to experience and competence.

What you bring:

• 0–3 Montessori Diploma
• Diploma in Early Childhood Education & Care
• Prior experience in a 0–3 Montessori environment
• Current Positive Notice Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
• Current Childcare First Aid and CPR Qualifications (HLTAID012 & HLTAID009).
• A commitment to reflective practice, continuous improvement, and a collaborative team culture.
