
The Monitored Care Unit (MCU) Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients using the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care. Responsibilities include caring for medical, surgical, and monitored patients; performing comprehensive patient assessments; administering medications and treatments; monitoring and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory results; managing specialized equipment and therapies; caring for pre- and post-procedural patients; coordinating patient transfers; providing patient and family education; and maintaining accurate documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). In the role of Nursing Supervisor, the nurse provides operational and clinical leadership during assigned shifts by coordinating patient flow and bed placement, supporting staffing needs, responding to emergencies, serving as a resource for nursing and ancillary staff, promoting compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards, and ensuring safe, quality patient care throughout the organization.

Wabash General Hospital is a not-for-profit district hospital. It is overseen by a nine member board of directors who are appointed by the county commissioners. Wabash General is a Critical Access Hospital with a 25 bed capacity. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. It has been managed by Alliant Management Services since 1987 and has been open since 1951.
The sole purpose of Wabash General Hospital is to provide high quality, cost effective health care in Wabash and surrounding counties, and promote the general health of its residents.
