The Central Monitoring Unit (CMU) serves as a live control center, with caregiversmonitoringpatients 24/7 to enhance care and safety.As a Monitor Technician, you will perform ongoing surveillance of patients' cardiac monitors and provideappropriate nursingstaff withtimelynotification of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics that couldimpactpatient condition. This role not only offers flexibility, but also the chance to move into other roles within the organization after enhancing your skills

APRNcaregiver in this position worksvaryingnights from7:00PM- 7:30AM Working a minimum of 4 shifts per 6-week period isrequired

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform ongoing surveillance of patients’ cardiac monitors, cardiacrhythmand vital signs.

  • Provideappropriate nursingstaff withtimelynotification of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics that couldimpactpatient condition.

  • Interpretpatientcardiachemodynamicrhythm and document in the electronic medical record.

  • Answer the telephone and communicate clearly when receiving and delivering information.

  • Orient and mentor new caregivers, servingas a training and troubleshooting resource for the CMU and nursing units.

  • Provide reports for the oncoming shift.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • HighSchool Diploma orGED

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activitiesthroughformal training program inAlliedHealth or a healthcare field(e.g., Nursing,MedicalAssisting, EMT or a similar field)OR one year of patient care experience in a hospital, nursinghomeor healthcaresetting

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, computer and typing skills

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Completion of EKG/Cardiac MonitoringCourse

  • Experience as a Monitor Technician

  • Demonstrated skill in recognizing abnormal cardiac rhythms

  • EMT, paramedic or firefighter experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment under moderate pressure, multi-task with accuracy to keep track of a large number of patients and requires long periods of sitting and watching a computer monitors.

  • Visual acuity for observing cardiac monitor data.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
