Job Description


Purpose of the Position

The Molecular Breeding Scientist will contribute to the development and application of advanced molecular breeding and genetic transformation approaches for vegetatively propagated crops, particularly potato and sweetpotato.

The position will support research aimed at developing efficient and reliable genetic transformation systems and generating foreign-DNA-free gene-edited materials, while contributing to scientific projects, publications, postgraduate student supervision and research management.


Requirements


  • Scientific publications: Demonstrated record of publishing SCI-indexed papers in relevant scientific fields.

  • International experience: Nationality from a Belt and Road Initiative co-building country or other developing country.

  • Relevant professional experience: Work experience in the above-mentioned countries and engagement in scientific research or science and technology activities.

  • Academic qualification: PhD degree or more than five years of relevant scientific research experience.

  • Research capability: Demonstrated high scientific research level and/or strong research potential.

  • Age and health: Below 45 years of age at the application date and in good health.

  • Language: Good English or excellent Chinese communication skills.

  • Availability: Able to work full-time in China.

  • Compliance: Willing and able to comply with applicable Chinese laws, regulations and relevant institutional rules.

  • Technical expertise: Demonstrated experience in foreign-DNA-free gene editing and/or development of foreign-DNA-free genetic materials.
