Senior Moldmaker (Precision Injection Molding)
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Type: Full-Time, Lead/Journeyman Level
We are looking for a true "craftsman of the micro-inch." We don't care if you have a framed certificate on your wall or if you learned the trade in a garage—we care about the steel.
In this role, you won't just be "making parts." You will be responsible for the birth and maintenance of high-dollar, high-complexity injection molds where a hair’s breadth is considered a massive gap. If you find peace in a perfectly timed slide and satisfaction in a 0.0001'' tolerance, you belong here.
Full-Cycle Tooling: Take a project from a digital file or blueprint through to final benching, assembly, and sampling.
Precision Machining: Set up and operate CNC mills, sinker/wire EDMs, and high-precision grinders with surgical intent.
The "Swiss Watch" Element: Perform repairs on complex mold builds involving multi-cavitation, hot runners, unscrewing cores, and intricate slides.
Troubleshooting & Surgery: Diagnose "mystery" flashing or gating issues on the fly and perform precision repairs on tools worth more than a luxury SUV.
Collaboration: Work with engineering to tell them why their "theoretically perfect" design needs a real-world adjustment before it hits the steel.
Proven Mastery: You have at least 10 years of experience in the trenches of tight-tolerance mold making. You are "Journeyman-level" in skill, even if you never sat for the test.
Technical Literacy: You can read a blueprint like a novel and navigate CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, SolidWorks, etc.) to ensure your toolpaths are as efficient as they are accurate.
Tolerance Obsession: You understand that in our world, 0.0005'' is a mile. You are comfortable working with tolerances frequently reaching 0.0001'' or better.
Material Intelligence: You know your S7 from your H13 and exactly how they’ll behave under heat treat and high-pressure injection cycles.
Top-Tier Equipment: We don't expect you to do world-class work on hobbyist machines. You’ll have the best tools at your disposal.
Complexity Over Volume: We don't do "bucket molds." We do medical, aerospace, and high-tech components that keep your brain engaged.
Comp & Culture:
We are looking for a finisher. If you are the type of person who leaves the last 2% of a job for someone else to figure out, this isn't the shop for you. But if you take pride in a tool that runs a million cycles without a hiccup, we’d love to see your work.
To Apply: Send us your resume and we'll follow up from there.
