University Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a technical field and in positions of a similar nature, or 4 years of experience in the medical device industry.

of Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate Hologic’s internal validation projects related to molded parts. These projects may involve mold replacement due to operating time or issues that arise, the introduction of new products, or part redesigns carried out by R&D.
Responsibilities include coordinating First Article Inspection (FAI) of parts, analyzing results, and managing process validations until ensuring that the molded part is suitable to enter the production process.
Provide objective analysis of issues related to molded parts during production. Conduct engineering studies and design experiments to determine the root cause of part problems and propose solutions when the root cause is related to the mold manufacturing process or the supplier’s production process.
Lead process improvement initiatives related to molded parts.
Lead the development of protocols and the execution of validations for molded parts during the transfer of new products to manufacturing at Hologic Costa Rica. Ensure compliance with project goals and deadlines to successfully integrate new processes into the company’s quality and production systems.
Manage a detailed Gantt chart of assigned project activities and update it weekly. Distribute progress reports to all project stakeholders.
Coordinate First Article Inspection (FAI) activities for molded parts related to:
In these activities, responsibilities include defining critical dimensions and measurement systems for the inspected parts, coordinating with IQC for inspection start and completion dates, training inspectors performing measurements, verifying information provided by IQC, analyzing inspection results, and approving the FAI.
Operate and handle measuring equipment such as calipers, SmartScope, and optical comparators.
Develop and manage a database of molds that accurately reflects the current status of each company mold and its associated documentation.
Document all maintenance performed by suppliers on Hologic molds, request maintenance records, and ensure that company molds are properly maintained.
Evaluate issues with molded parts in Hologic’s production process. Develop engineering studies and design experiments to determine the root cause and implement solutions when within scope.
Provide recommendations to Materials Engineering or suppliers to resolve identified issues.
Develop knowledge of new processes in terms of suppliers, equipment, tools, materials, and procedures. Follow up on these elements once the project is implemented to support organizational learning and process mastery.
Identify opportunities for improvement in molding processes and evaluate cost-reduction opportunities related to molded parts.
Identify and lead the implementation of key projects in systems and processes related to production areas, as well as new manufacturing processes that contribute to achieving organizational objectives.
