of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement and coordinate Hologic’s internal validation projects related to molded plastic parts. These projects may involve mold replacements due to operating life or performance issues, introduction of new products, or part redesigns developed by R&D.
  • Lead the development of validation protocols (in English) and execution of molded part validations during the transfer of new products to manufacturing at Hologic Costa Rica. Ensure compliance with project goals and timelines while integrating new processes into the company’s quality and production systems, including documentation within the Agile system.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed Gantt chart of assigned project activities and update it weekly.
  • Provide progress reports to project stakeholders, including explanations of activity status and milestones.
  • Coordinate First Article Inspection (FAI) activities for molded parts related to new NPI components, new device generations, mold replacements due to age, or improvements to current parts.
  • Define critical dimensions and measurement systems required for part inspection and coordinate with IQC regarding inspection schedules, completion timelines, and inspector training.
  • Verify inspection data provided by IQC, analyze results, and approve FAI documentation.
  • Identify dimensions that affect assembly and functionality, as well as additional measurements or tests required to ensure manufacturability and product performance.
  • Define measurement methods and equipment used for each dimension and product.
  • Prepare final inspection reports in English with analysis and conclusions, including product approval or rejection and communication to the supplier.
  • Operate measurement equipment used for plastic parts inspection, including calipers, SmartScope, optical comparators, pin gauges, micrometers, and equipment used for functional testing.
  • Manage the company’s mold database, ensuring records are updated in the Agile system.
  • Document all maintenance performed by suppliers on Hologic molds, request maintenance records, and ensure molds are properly maintained.
  • Monitor the condition and useful life of company molds.
  • Investigate issues with molded parts in production, conduct engineering studies and design experiments to identify root causes, and implement solutions when within scope.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing and process engineering teams to support resolution of process or product issues related to plastic parts.
  • Provide recommendations to improve manufacturability, quality, and reliability of molded components.
