Shift: Monday - Thursday, 6:00am - 4:30pm

The role of the Mold Technician is to create and repair basic molds used for the manufacturing of specialty fireplace products. Assist with mold development, basic design support, product sample preparation, and production support.

What you'll be doing:

  • Safely set up and operate woodworking machines to ensure proper manufacturability of products by:
    • Shaping parts from wood stocks.
    • Using table saws and a variety of handheld tools to assemble wooden box “tools”.
    • Precisely trimming component parts to ensure snug fittings and according to specifications of molds.
    • Fastening fits and clamps parts into joints as designated places to reinforcement joints.
    • Sanding and scraping surfaces and joints to prepare for finishing.
  • Thoroughly repair molds, as needed, and track repair frequency for reporting purposes.
  • Regularly perform maintenance on molds and mold-making equipment.
  • Develop new molds to include design support and create new and/or improved control processes.
  • Effectively collaborate with plant and organizational Team Members to assist in resolving internal and external customer complaints.
  • Promptly resolve supplier, intra-departmental, and department to department product non-conformities.
  • Continuously maintain a safe and clean working area.

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or GED plus a minimum of one (1) year of cabinet making, precision woodworking, and/or mold building experience.

Technical Skills

Proficient with handheld and motorized woodworking. Comfortable with regularly operating a table saw with precision and manual dexterity. Ability to reference and apply blueprints, dimensions, and CAD designs. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide figures to include fractions and decimals. Proficient with measurements and specifications. Basic understanding of cast materials, adhesives, coatings, etc.

Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, bend and reach, use hands to grasp, handle or feel, lift or carry up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, in person and in writing.

Working Environment

While performing the essential responsibilities of this position, the team member will generally work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including approved footwear, respirators, and safety glasses/goggles may be required.

Additional Information

The minimum and maximum hourly range for this full-time position is $22.43 - $28.03 + benefits.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in this posted role reflect the base salary only and do not include bonus or benefits.
