Job Description

Purpose of Role

Safely and efficiently perform varying levels of preventative maintenance, tooling changeovers, and mold repairs on injection molds. This role is critical in supporting customer expectations and driving plant metrics such as production efficiency by ensuring the highest possible reliability and uptime.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on molds and tooling to keep them in top operating condition.
  • Complete in-press mold checks and make-ready preparations to keep production running smoothly.
  • Diagnose and repair injection molds (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, hot runner systems, etc.) to maximize uptime.
  • Troubleshoot issues such as sticking parts, water leaks, and hydraulic cylinder problems, often collaborating with other departments.
  • Machine individual mold components using CNC mills, standard mills, and lathes.
  • Maintain proper surface finishes for optimal part release.
  • Disassemble molds and hot runners for periodic maintenance and repairs.
  • Share your expertise by teaching new skills to team members.
  • Follow all safety and quality standards while completing accurate documentation.

What We’re Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in injection molding, tool and die, or equivalent background.
  • Proficiency in repairing hot runner systems, especially valve gate systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to quickly resolve issues.
  • Hands-on experience with mills, lathes, CNC, cranes, and rigging.
  • Forklift certification and overhead crane experience.
  • Familiarity with large molds (40,000–90,000 lbs.) and stack molds.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical wiring for sensors and switches.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
