Die Setter

Shift: Standard shift times, with flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed

Salary: $24.00 - $29.00 per hour

Die Setter Role

The Die Setter is responsible for the safe and efficient installation, removal, setup, and troubleshooting of molds and auxiliary equipment. This role ensures production readiness, minimizes machine downtime, and maintains strict quality standards in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Die Setter Responsibilities

  • Install, remove, and secure injection molds according to production schedules
  • Set up and connect auxiliary equipment including water lines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical connections
  • Perform mold changes efficiently to meet production targets and minimize downtime
  • Verify proper mold alignment, clamping, and functionality prior to startup
  • Start up machines and adjust basic parameters to achieve acceptable part quality
  • Monitor equipment during startup to ensure proper operation and part conformance
  • Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation for setups, changes, and downtime
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to improve changeover efficiency and reduce scrap
  • Die Setter Reporting Relationships
  • Reports directly to the Shift Supervisor and has no direct reports.

About You

  • Possess a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Bring 2+ years of experience in plastic injection molding or mold setting
  • Demonstrate knowledge of mold components, tooling systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, and cooling systems
  • Understand basic plastic injection molding processes and machine operations
  • Possess strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Hold a forklift and/or overhead crane certification or possess a willingness to obtain
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Demonstrate effective time management and organizational abilities

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

Requires frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs. (with assistance or lifting equipment for heavy molds). Involves standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing ladders, operating machine controls, and working around heavy machinery and moving equipment for extended periods. Exposure to heat, noise, oils, and general industrial manufacturing environments is required.
