The Mold Attendant at Becton, Dickinson and Company is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of injection molding machines and ancillary equipment to produce high-quality medical device components. This role ensures continuous production, adherence to safety standards, and optimal machine performance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload molds into injection molding machines, ensuring proper alignment and secure setup.

  • Monitor machine operations, including cycle times, temperatures, and pressures, to detect and address deviations.

  • Perform routine visual inspections of molded parts for defects such as flash, short shots, and warpage, and take corrective action as needed.

  • Conduct basic troubleshooting of molding machine issues, including material feeding problems, mold sticking, and part ejection failures.

  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on molds and machines, such as cleaning, greasing, and minor adjustments.

  • Record production data, including quantities produced, scrap rates, and machine downtime.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to 5S principles.

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including Lockout/Tagout, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other team members regarding production issues or machine status.

  • Assist with material handling, including loading resin into hoppers and managing finished product.


Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with injection molding machines.

  • Basic understanding of injection molding principles and processes.

  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and safety procedures.

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic machine adjustments and maintenance.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify visual defects in molded parts.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is a plus.
