We have an exciting opportunity for an early career transport modeller to contribute to high-quality project delivery while continuing to develop technical modelling and data analysis capability alongside experienced professionals in a supportive, collaborative environment.

The role offers the opportunity to be actively involved in the analysis, development, and application of transport models, supporting outcomes that inform transport planning, operations and investment decisions. You will work with industry-standard tools such as Aimsun, SIDRA and Python, with opportunities to develop capability in other packages aligned with your interests and project needs.

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake transport modelling and data analysis tasks, including processing and validating input data, building, running and interrogating models (particularly in Aimsun) and assessing performance against relevant guidelines and contributing to technical reports with clear documentation of assumptions, methodologies, calibration/validation outcomes and scenario testing results.
  • Apply project management fundamentals when completing assigned tasks, contributing to the delivery of modelling outputs within agreed scope, quality, and timeframes under appropriate supervision
  • Work collaboratively with project team members and stakeholders to support coordinated, timely and high‑quality delivery of transport modelling and analytical inputs across planning and advisory assignments
  • Support the commercial performance of projects through efficient task delivery, accurate use of business systems, and contribution to technical reporting, modelling documentation and proposal preparation on smaller projects
  • Plan and manage personal workloads effectively across multiple tasks, meeting deadlines while progressively building capability in transport modelling tools, data analysis techniques and professional judgement.

About You

You are a motivated and analytically minded professional who enjoys working across a variety of projects and is committed to developing your transport modelling and data analysis capability through continuous learning and professional growth.

Suitable applicants will /have:

  • Tertiary degree in Transport Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Transport Planning or a related discipline
  • Developing technical capability in transport modelling and data analysis
  • Demonstrated interest or early experience in traffic and transport modelling tools, including use of tools such as Aimsun, SIDRA and Python, with an understanding of core modelling concepts (calibration, validation, demand modelling and scenario testing) and the ability to analyse, interpret and present data effectively.
  • Ability to support client relationships and manage expectations under guidance from senior team members
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery, including the use of business systems and contribution to proposals
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document model assumption, calibration & validation, scenario results and analysis clearly
  • Ability to apply project management fundamentals when delivering assigned tasks, including scope, risk and time management
  • Working knowledge of relevant transport modelling guidelines and specifications, with the ability to apply them under supervision
  • Ability to work effectively within collaborative, multidisciplinary project teams
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new tools and methods, adapt to changing project needs and develop professional judgement
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines under pressure
