Job Description

This position is responsible for performing comprehensive assessments, validations, and ongoing monitoring of models used across the bank. This role ensures that models are conceptually sound, methodologically robust, and compliant with the bank's Model Risk Management (MRM) framework, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices. The analyst partners closely with model developers, business owners, and risk stakeholders to challenge model design, evaluate performance, and verify alignment with evolving business and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Model Risk Management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including model developers and business owners, to ensure models adhere to best practices, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead/participate in the ongoing monitoring and maintenance of models, ensuring they remain current and relevant to evolving business needs.
  • Identify, assess, and communicate model-related risks, proposing mitigation strategies where needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date model documentation and ensure transparency in model assumptions, limitations, and use cases.
  • Model Validation and Review
  • Lead/participate in the validation process for various models used in risk management, pricing, liquidity, credit underwriting, stress testing, and other critical areas.
  • Evaluate model assumptions, methodologies, and data sources to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
  • Assesses model risk through pre-implementation validations, periodic validations and monitoring activities that independently challenge conceptual design/methodology, reference data, processes, and performance.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes related to model risk management and ensure the bank’s practices remain in compliance with applicable laws and guidelines.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting continuous learning and professional growth.

Education, Experience, and Other Expectations

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business analytics, finance, economics, statistics, or other similar field; or equivalent experience.
  • 4-6 years of experience in risk management, compliance, data analytics, risk analytics, or related roles.
  • Experience with banking products, credit processes, liquidity management, stress testing, forecasting models, and/or capital planning frameworks preferred.
  • Experience with statistical and data analysis tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to evaluate complex models, data flows, and methodologies.
  • Proficiency with statistical and data analysis tools.
  • Understanding of model development concepts such as regression, machine learning, time series analysis, forecasting, and validation techniques.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements related to model risk.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; comfort challenging assumptions and identifying risks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
  • High attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
