Location Zurich, Switzerland (Onsite) | Employment Type: Permanent, full-time

As a MOCVD Technician, you will support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of epitaxy systems used in semiconductor manufacturing.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on maintaining complex gas, vacuum, and reactor systems that enable the production of high-performance semiconductor laser materials. You will work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure safe, stable, and efficient operation of critical manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on MOCVD reactors and associated infrastructure (gas supply, abatement, vacuum systems)
    • Support maintenance of vacuum pumps and gas systems
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs
    • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues to ensure system uptime
    • Replace and maintain components such as filters, piping, and gas handling systems
  • Safety & Operations
    • Safely handle and exchange pressurized gas cylinders, following strict safety protocols
  • Monitoring & Process Stability
    • Monitor and interpret system data and logs for fault diagnosis (e.g. SPC)
    • Ensure equipment availability and process stability in a production environment
    • Document maintenance and service activities in line with quality standards
  • Testing & Systems Support
    • Support the setup and maintenance of measurement and testing systems (e.g. wafer characterisation or similar diagnostic equipment)
    • Work with control systems (PLC-based) to identify and resolve operational issues

Qualifications

  • Completed technical training, apprenticeship, or equivalent in Mechatronics, Electronics, Automation, Industrial Mechanics, or a related field
  • ~3+ years of hands-on technical experience (or strong apprenticeship background)
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, chemical processing, gas systems, vacuum systems, or similar industrial environments is a plus, but not required.

Skills & Other Requirements

  • Understanding of basic physics and technical systems (pressure, gas flow, electrical fundamentals)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams
  • Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial equipment
  • Strong awareness of safety protocols, particularly in regulated or hazardous environments
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom and safety-critical environment, including use of respiratory protection equipment (training provided)
  • German working proficiency required and English language skills is a plus

Application Process

All candidates who wish to apply should submit a CV and cover letter outlining their interest in the position and how their skills and experience align with the requirements of the role.
