The Mobile/Site Supervisor position provides a vital link in the procurement of a safe quality blood product. Essential functions of the Mobile Site Supervisor are to assist in smooth and efficient donor flow, to determine donor acceptability, to perform sterile venipuncture for the collection of blood, provide excellent customer service and ensure compliance with regulations and standard operating procedures throughout the donation process.
The position will oversee and assign responsibilities/duties to collections staff; additionally, they may be involved in the following staff processes; interviews, discipline, performance reviews, hiring and terminations. This includes effectively and discreetly solving personnel and donor problems, addressing procedural or behavioral problems, and making verbal or written reports to management.
Additionally, the Mobile/Site Supervisor will be required to attend and/or complete annual leadership/development training resources and mentor/assist with on the job development of new hire employees, as well as subordinate staff. This position may be required to participate in special projects or programs.
Regular full time attendance is required during operational hours.
QualificationsEDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some college a plus
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years general work experience, preferably working with the public or education that includes experience such as an internship or externship
- Customer service experience required, intern and/or externship experience will satisfy this requirement
- Minimum 6months to 1 year supervisory experience
- Previous Phlebotomy 2, blood banking experience, or medical field experience
- Background in a highly regulated industry
- Bilingual skills and CDL driver a plus
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Computer knowledge required
- Excellent customer service and verbal/written communication skills
- Self-motivated and positive with ability to work well with others in a team atmosphere
- Detail oriented in regards to document reviews (complete, accurate, and legibly written), able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
PHYSICAL/MENTAL STRESS FACTORS
- Ability to move about the work area to handle donors and access equipment, including standing, sitting, walking, and working in confined spaces and narrow aisles
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs/steps daily to enter and exit the transport vehicles to the blood drive location as well as the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend in order to set up blood collection equipment and access the equipment during use
- Must be able to communicate with donors in order to obtain medical history and monitor the donor during donation. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- Ability to move and set up the blood collection equipment/supplies weighing up to 25 pounds daily and partner to carry all items over 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds, as well as periodically assist donors who are experiencing a reaction (Donor Center Phlebotomists
- Ability to move and set up blood collection equipment/supplies weighing up to 25 pounds daily and regularly partner carry all items over 25 pounds and up to 120 pounds, as well as periodically assist donors who are experiencing a reaction (Mobile Collections Phlebotomists)
- Frequently load/unload vehicles, may be required to daily push carts/dollies weighing up to approximately 250 pounds, handling many types of equipment and cases, and perform these functions in all types of weather conditions, including adverse weather conditions (Mobile Collections Phlebotomists)
- Flexibility to work irregular shifts, long hours, and adapt to frequent schedule changes
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing environment including changing processes/procedures and work effectively in high stress situations
- Exposed to potentially infectious blood and blood products on a daily basis
- Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, apply common sense in performing job, ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, and ability to express or exchange ideas by communicating professionally with others through the spoken word, email, text, or written report
- Mental stress related to working difficult schedules, frequent overtime, long or unscheduled hours, and maintaining a positive customer focused attitude at all times as well as mental stress associated with attaining goals and objectives and ability to meet deadlines
