We are seeking an experienced Mobile Fitter/Mechanic to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will travel to customer and site locations to inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain a wide range of plant and heavy equipment. This role requires practical mechanical skills, a strong commitment to safety and the flexibility to work across different sites and conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out mobile repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance on plant, machinery and attachments at customer or site locations.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults using inspection and testing equipment.
Complete fault reports, service records and necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
Work independently to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively while maintaining communication with the depot.
Ensure safe use of tools, equipment and lifting gear; adhere to company health & safety and compliance procedures.
Fit replacement parts and ensure quality of repairs, including on-site welding, hydraulic hose assembly and component replacement where required.
Support transport colleagues with pre-delivery inspections and breakdown recovery as required.
Maintain stock levels of commonly used parts and report shortages to the depot for replenishment.
Provide excellent customer service when representing Flannery on site and build strong working relationships with customers and colleagues.
Skills and Attributes
Strong mechanical aptitude with proven experience working on heavy plant, construction machinery or agricultural equipment.
Good knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines and basic electrics.
Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High standards of professionalism, reliability and attention to detail.
Commitment to safety and compliance with statutory regulations.
Qualifications
Essential
NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering, vehicle maintenance or a related discipline, or proven relevant experience.
Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to multiple sites (company vehicle provided for work).
Desirable
City & Guilds, apprenticeship or recognised trade qualification.
Experience with hydraulic hose making, welding and mobile diagnostics tools.
Familiarity with plant telematics and digital fault reporting systems.
