Mobile Engineer (M&E Bias)
Manchester & Sheffield | 40 Hours | Monday–Friday
We’re looking for a multi-skilled Mobile Engineer with either a mechanical/plumbing or electrical bias — but importantly, someone who enjoys working across disciplines and taking ownership of their patch.
This isn’t a “stay in your lane” type of role. You’ll be trusted to think beyond your core trade, get stuck in, and keep buildings running smoothly across a varied commercial portfolio in the Manchester and Sheffield areas.
If you’re hands-on, solutions-focused, and take pride in high standards — this could be for you.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across multiple commercial sites, ensuring systems remain safe, compliant and fully operational.
Day to day, that means:
Delivering PPM and reactive works across building services systems
Fault-finding across HVAC, pumps, motors, AHUs, FCUs and associated plant
Supporting electrical systems including lighting, power distribution and emergency lighting
Handling basic plumbing and mechanical works (or electrical support, depending on your bias)
Monitoring plant performance and responding proactively to issues
Completing compliance checks and statutory inspections
Updating CAFM systems accurately and in real time
Supporting subcontractors and issuing permits to work when required
Acting as a professional and proactive point of contact on site
This is a mobile role, so you’ll manage your own diary, travel between sites, and take real ownership of your region.
The environment
Covering commercial office environments across Manchester and Sheffield
High standards, well-maintained buildings
A supportive contract management structure
Autonomy in your day-to-day work
A culture built around trust, professionalism and collaboration
No two days are the same — and that’s exactly how you like it.
What we’re looking for
We’re open to engineers with either an electrical or mechanical/plumbing bias, but you must be comfortable working beyond your core discipline.
You’ll ideally have:
Experience within Facilities Management or Building Services
Strong PPM and reactive maintenance background
Confidence fault-finding across M&E systems
HVAC plant knowledge
Experience with BMS systems (desirable)
Good IT skills and experience updating CAFM systems
A proactive, calm and professional approach
Qualifications
City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 in Electrical Engineering or
City & Guilds Level 3 in Plumbing/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
18th Edition (if electrically biased) desirable
Legionella awareness (training can be provided)
Full UK driving licence
What’s in it for you?
A genuinely varied mobile role — not just ticking boxes
Trust and autonomy in your region
Structured support from experienced managers
Overtime opportunities
Ongoing training and development
Clear progression routes within a growing FM business
Why this role stands out
This isn’t about being “just” an electrical engineer or “just” a plumber. It’s about being a well-rounded facilities professional who understands buildings as a whole and enjoys solving problems properly.
If you take pride in doing the job right, like working independently but still being part of a strong team, and want a role where your skillset is valued — we’d love to hear from you.
