Imagine contributing to projects that help move millions of people every day?

At Siemens Mobility, we're developing innovative transport solutions that are transforming the future of rail and making travel more sustainable. Start your career at the heart of that journey!

Are you an ambitious undergraduate looking for a unique Internship?

Kick-start your career with a 12-month placement that gives you the opportunity to experience life at Siemens Mobility. You'll be immersed in real projects, gaining hands on industry experience, develop valuable business skills and build meaningful relationships across the business. Supported by structured development activities and a network of colleagues and fellow interns, you'll leave the programme with the experience, learning, confidence and connections to take the next step in your career.

Siemens Mobility, Mobile Communications delivers safe, efficient and reliable mission-critical systems for transport networks. These systems enable seamless data and voice exchange between vehicles, infrastructure, control centres and passengers, helping keep transport moving smoothly while improving the passenger experience.

Working across development, system testing and project delivery, you will gain experience of the complete lifecycle of our 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G railway radio communication products. This spans the generation of new ideas and requirements through design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.

At Mobile Communications, we manage every aspect of product development and delivery, working closely with customers to ensure successful deployment and long-term reliability. This provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the full engineering lifecycle while contributing to mission-critical communication systems used throughout the Railway industry.

The role is based at our modern offices in New Fields Business Park, Poole. We operate a flexible hybrid working model, enabling a balance between office and home working where business needs allow. Some activities, such as system integration and testing in our laboratory facilities, require regular attendance on site. However, where tasks can be performed remotely, home working is fully supported. We are committed to flexible working and will normally accommodate individual preferences while meeting the needs of the business.

You‘ll make a difference by:

  • Working on the latest generation of mobile communication products deployed on railway networks around the world and seeing your work.
  • Combine the agility and variety of a specialist engineering team with the opportunities and resources of the wider Siemens organisation.

In addition to your day-to-day role and learning, you will take part in a structured development programme consisting of professional skills training and coaching support.

What you’ll need to succeed:

We are seeking innovative and inquisitive candidates that demonstrate the following;

  • Achieved or be on track to achieve a 2:2 or above in Software Engineering or Project Management
  • Logical thinking, willing to self-learn and research, and take a creative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work independently, safely and responsibly; take ownership of challenges and ideas and are looking to develop your ability to drive and lead change
  • Enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions
