Lancashire County Council provides catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire, serving thousands of nutritious school meals every day. We are seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and experienced individuals to join our catering team as a Peripatetic/Mobile Cook, supporting schools across the South Ribble, Preston and surrounding areas.
This is a varied and rewarding role providing cover across multiple school kitchens. You will play a key role in the preparation, cooking and service of high-quality school meals, whilst taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of kitchens, maintaining the highest standards of food safety, and ensuring an excellent dining experience for pupils.
We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for cooking and experience of working in a busy catering environment.

Local Government Reorganisation
The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.
If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
