Mobile Application QA Team Leader

Miele Tehnica is a subsidiary of Miele & Cie. KG, Germany. Join our Development Center in Brașov as an Mobile Application QA Team Leader and coordinate quality assurance activities for Miele mobile application in Romania.

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader, located in Brasov, to lead our Mobile Application Quality Assurance Team while remaining hands-on in test strategy, coverage, and delivery. This is a management role, combining people leadership with end-to-end QA ownership across the Miele mobile application, in a hybrid working environment.

Your Role

You will lead and develop a team of testers, defining and driving the QA strategy for mobile applications (iOS & Android) that are part of a complex IoT ecosystem consisting of mobile app, household appliances, and backend services. You will work closely with Product Owners, Developers, Global Stakeholders and Management roles to ensure high quality for Miele App digital product.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management

  • Defines and implements team development and growth strategies, in collaboration with local and global management;
  • Sets team goals together with local and global management;
  • Manages the team's workload, sets priorities and ensures that objectives are achieved on time, in line with the strategy of global projects;
  • Is responsible for the quality and technical approach adopted by team members, ensuring the delivery of projects within budget;
  • Ensures effective communication and collaboration between international teams;
  • Organizes regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and discussions on the development of team members' skills;
  • Promotes a culture of collaboration, continuous learning and innovation, encouraging feedback and retrospectives to improve team efficiency;

Quality Assurance Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead and manage the QA team throughout the full software testing lifecycle
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve QA and test coverage strategies
  • Own test planning, execution oversight, and reporting across teams
  • Ensure high-quality test case management for functional and non-functional requirements
  • Drive risk, defect, and escalation management related to application quality
  • Ensure test environments, data, and tools are fit for purpose
  • Implement automation initiatives and quality engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Development to refine requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Organize and moderate test- and QA-related meetings (e.g. quality syncs, best-practice sharing).
  • Ensure adherence to QA standards, best practices, and SDLC/Agile principles

Must-Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 5+ years in software testing, including 2+ years in a Team Leader role
  • Proven people leadership experience (team coordination, mentoring, performance management)
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycles SDLC, Agile, and QA best practices
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Zephyr)
  • ISTQB (or equivalent) certification
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Proactive, structured, quality-driven mindset
  • Located in Brasov with hybrid working environment

Nice-to-Have

  • Relevant experience testing mobile applications (iOS & Android)
  • Experience with IoT, backend-integrated, or distributed systems
  • Test automation experience or strong automation strategy background
  • Experience working in international, multi-team environments
